Hotel Block

JW Marriott Austin | 110 E 2nd St.

Standard Room: $269 single/double plus applicable taxes & fees

A block of rooms has been reserved at the JW Marriott Austin from Nov. 6 - 10, 2019 for attendees of the 2019 NAPABA Convention. The special room rate will be available until Oct. 16, 2019  or until the group has sold-out, whichever comes first. 

• Cut-off Date: The cut-off date for the NAPABA block is Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. CST. After the cut-off date or after the block has been filled, rooms may still be available, but may be sold at the prevailing rate.
• Cancellation: Guests must cancel their own reservations directly with the hotel at least 24 hours prior to arrival in order to avoid a one-night cancellation charge.
• A periodic review of the room block will be conducted to ensure that attendees do not reserve multiple rooms. Attendees who reserve two or more rooms may have their additional reservations removed with notice.

Overflow Hotel

The Westin Austin Downtown | 310 E. 5th St.

Standard Room: $279 single/double plus applicable taxes & fees

An overflow hotel room block has been reserved at The Westin Austin Downtown from Nov. 6 - 10, 2019 for attendees of the 2019 NAPABA Convention. The special room rate will be available until Oct 16, 2019 or until the group has sold-out, whichever comes first. 

• Cut-off Date: The cut-off date for the overflow block is Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m. CST. After the cut-off date or after the block has been filled, rooms may still be available, but may be sold at the prevailing rate.

Scholarships

NAPABA strives to keep the Convention affordable for our members and offers one of the best values among legal education conferences. Scholarships may be used towards Convention registration, airfare, lodging, and/or ground transportation. Apply for a scholarship today to defray the cost of Convention!

Scholarship Rules

• You must be a current member of NAPABA. If you are unsure about your NAPABA membership, sign in to your NAPABA member profile here. All questions related to membership may be directed to membership@napaba.org.
• Scholarships are non-transferable.
• Group applications will not be accepted.
  
• All scholarships will be awarded in the form of a reimbursement, which will be disbursed after the Convention has concluded. Scholarship recipients will receive a reimbursement form to be completed by December 13, 2019 and submitted along with copies of receipts.  
• Submission of a scholarship application is not a guarantee of assistance. Decisions are final and are not subject to appeal.

• NAPABA will only reimburse the following items:
  • Convention registration. Gala Only Admission and add-on tickets that include a meal (e.g. Thursday plenary luncheon, committee/network dinners) will not be reimbursed. 
  • Reasonable travel via air, train, or car. Upgrades, bag fees, tolls, car maintenance or damages will not be reimbursed.
  • Ground transportation from airport to Convention hotel.
  • Reasonable lodging. Upgrades, room service, or additional services will not be reimbursed.

Walmart Law Student Scholarship Program

Walmart supports NAPABA's commitment to increasing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession for Asian Pacific Americans. We recognize that a diverse and inclusive legal profession is a fundamental part of ensuring a fair and just legal system for all. Through generous subsidies provided by Walmart, NAPABA aims to increase law student participation at the NAPABA Convention and attendance at the Law Student Workshop.

This scholarship is intended for law students only. You must be a current NAPABA member to apply.

• Monday, June 17, 2019 – Early bird registration, housing, and scholarship application opens.

Host an Event at the NAPABA Convention

Interested in reaching NAPABA attendees gathered in Austin for the NAPABA Convention? Take advantage of this critical mass and host an event to promote your affiliate, law firm, company, legal organization, or law school.

Policies

Groups looking to host an event during the 2019 NAPABA Convention agree to abide by all operational policies and procedures that guide and govern NAPABA.

1. Law schools, law firms, corporations, legal organizations, and NAPABA affiliates and partner organizations are eligible to submit an event request form to host an event at the official Convention hotel.

2. Groups may offer hosted (host pays) or cash (attendee pays) bars for non-alcoholic drinks without limitation. Alcoholic drinks may be offered at events only after 5 pm. If alcoholic drinks will be served, groups may offer only hosted bars and all alcoholic drinks must be ticketed, with groups providing no more than one drink ticket per hour to attendees. Open bars providing alcoholic drinks are not permitted.

3. A separate and complete application must be submitted for each event.

4. Requests are on a space available basis and are not guaranteed.

5. Business meetings may only be held on Friday, Nov. 8 between 3 – 5 pm OR Saturday, Nov. 9 between 2 – 4 pm.

6. Receptions may only be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 5 – 6 pm OR Friday, Nov. 8 from 5 – 6 pm.

7. NAPABA reserves the right to relocate any room assignment. Please do not publish the location of your event(s) until after October 18, 2019.

8. NAPABA will list or publicize your event(s) in printed or online program materials.

9. Groups must cover the cost of any food & beverage and audio/visual equipment ordered for their event(s) as well as any room set up and break down requests beyond the standard NAPABA room set options.

10. NAPABA has the right to leave AV equipment, podiums, head tables in rooms during your event(s).

11. Groups will incur additional charges for equipment added on-site.

12. Standard room sets are conference, theater, or reception. Specific rooms are selected based on the estimated attendance for the event and use of room prior to your event(s).

Fees and Requirements

• Business Meeting: $250/hr
• Reception/social hour: $750/hr
• Payments must be made within 30 days of booking or space will be released.

Event Request Form

• Complete an Event Request Form.
• Email your form(s) to Meetings Manager Pang Moua at pmoua@napaba.org.
• Once your event is approved by NAPABA, you will be put in touch with an event coordinator at the JW Marriott Austin to finalize your food and beverage and audio visual needs.
