NAPABA Welcomes Guam Bar Association as NAPABA’s Newest Affiliate

WASHINGTON - The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Board of Governors has approved and welcomed the Guam Bar Association (“GBA”) as an affiliate of NAPABA. Founded in 1978, the GBA, an integrated bar, is tasked with improving the administration of justice and the standards of the legal profession, encouraging the educational betterment of its members, and charged with oversight and discipline of its members.

“We are so excited to celebrate what is truly a milestone for NAPABA and the Guam Bar Association,” said Anna Mercado Clark, President of NAPABA. “For decades, NAPABA has advocated for all communities within the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander population, and with the GBA joining the NAPABA family, we are prouder than ever of our commitment to uplifting all of our communities. We look forward to a meaningful and collaborative partnership between NAPABA and the GBA.”

"The Guam Bar Association expresses its gratitude to NAPABA President Anna Mercado Clark and the NAPABA Board of Governors for the opportunity to join this dynamic, diverse, and engaged community of AANHPI lawyers. To our NAPABA colleagues, we say ‘Håfa Adai and Si Yu'us Ma'åse,'” said Jacqueline T. Terlaje, President of the GBA. “Representation matters, and we know that our voices as Guamanian attorneys, including those from our vibrant Chamorro community, are critical in ensuring that the unique challenges confronting the Pacific Islander population across the United States are not overlooked.”

The Guam Bar Association joins a community of nearly 90 local, state, regional, and national bar associations in the United States and Canada that are affiliates and national associates of NAPABA. The affiliates hold certain voting rights under the NAPABA Bylaws, and individual members of the affiliates are entitled to complimentary NAPABA membership and the benefits that accompany it.
