Candidate Statement

I am honored to submit my candidacy for the Director position.

My extensive experience in various leadership positions, including at NAPABA, my local affiliate, and at non-for-profit organizations uniquely positions me to contribute to NAPABA’s mission of promoting justice and fostering professional development, legal scholarship, advocacy and community involvement

In 2016, I was privileged to be selected to join The Florida Bar Leadership Academy. This experience was instrumental in honing my leadership skills and deepening my understanding of the legal profession’s challenges and opportunities. It provided a solid foundation for my subsequent roles within The Florida Bar, where I served on the Editorial Board of The Florida Bar Journal and The Florida Bar News from 2017 to 2023.

I previously served as NAPABA’s Southeast Alternate Regional Governor (“ARG”) in 2017-2018. As ARG, I regularly communicated critical information to affiliates in the SE region, developed strong ties with affiliate leaders, and assisted the Regional Governor with various other duties. In that role, I dedicated substantial time and effort to rally affiliate members and leaders to attend Lobby Day, regional conferences, and webinars. In 2018, I was elected as NAPABA’s Vice President of Membership (“VP”). As VP, I served on NAPABA’s leadership program task force and general programs task force. During my tenure, we created NAPABA’s inaugural Leadership Advancement Program (“LAP”). I applied what I learned from The Florida Bar Leadership Academy and applied it to LAP, including the principles from the DISC Assessment. I also assisted with fine-tuning the Pre-Law Conference and NAPALSA Conference, programming for the Collaborative Bar Leadership Academy, and with revising the best practices program for NAPABA Regional Governors and Affiliates.  Additionally, I assisted with revamping the Affiliate Leadership Summit, which is held annually during the NAPABA convention. I also worked together with board members and staff in analyzing NAPABA’s membership prices and tiers, and improved on NAPABA’s direct membership model. Our goal was to make the membership registration process simpler and intuitive.

Building on my past experience, if elected, I will focus on heightening member satisfaction, increasing NAPABA’s revenue and bottom line, and strengthening the organization and its programs through 2024 and beyond.  To achieve these goals, I promise to work tirelessly, be open-minded, and work with the NAPABA board and staff to improve on the panoply of assets that NAPABA offers and does year-round.

Thank you for your considerations and I look forward to seeing you at the annual convention in Seattle.
