National Diverse Bars Condemn Recent Acts of Anti-Asian Hate

The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, National Asian Pacific Islander Prosecutors Association, National Association of Women Lawyers, National Bar Association, National Filipino American Lawyers Association, National LGBT Bar Association, National Native American Bar Association, and the South Asian Bar Association of North America strongly condemn the ongoing wave of hate and violence targeting the Asian American community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of the victims of the shootings in Georgia and commit to supporting the Asian American community in the state as they heal.

We continue to stand in support of the Asian American community across the country, and will use the resources and experiences of our organizations to assist those in need. We urge all of our affiliated bar associations and our members around the country to work with local Asian American groups to address these heartbreaking and reprehensible acts. We are committed to putting an end to this year-long outbreak of increasingly violent acts of hate.

The recent shootings, the nearly 4,000 reported incidents of anti-Asian hate, and the countless acts of hate that go unrecorded, are reminders of the pernicious ways that racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and violence impact the lives of diverse communities. Our communities have experienced the pain of attacks on our identities and ability to live safely. Together we will transcend this pain and create a country free from hate.
