NAPABA Announces 2021 President's Award Winner

WASHINGTON- The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) is proud to present the 2021 NAPABA President’s Award to the Alliance for Asian American Justice (the Alliance), a consortium of over 90 of the most prominent law firms located in every major metropolitan area in this country, and helmed by leading Asian American litigation partners, allies, and general counsel of Fortune 1000 companies.

The NAPABA President’s Award is given to individuals or entities who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the Asian Pacific American community. The Alliance’s mission, “to stand up for victims and prevent future acts of anti-Asian hate,” aligns and reinforces NAPABA’s long-held values in combatting discrimination and racism and raising the visibility and voices of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.

“By harnessing the energy, prestige, resources, and strength of the top legal professionals in the country to represent hate crimes victims, the message is clear to perpetrators: Asian Americans are not powerless,” said NAPABA President A.B. Cruz III. “Our communities now have a powerful ally who will fight for them in their quest to obtain justice.”

The Alliance is managed by its five founding members, all giants in the legal profession and passionate advocates for justice: Wilson Chu, Don Liu, Tai Park, NAPABA Past President Brian Sun, and Deb Wong Yang, who also comprise its Board of Directors.

The Alliance’s cases include representation of families of several victims of the Atlanta-area spa shootings on March 16, 2021, and other victims of violent hate-fueled crime.

NAPABA is incredibly proud of the true partnership with the Alliance, serving as a leading intake partner responsible for reviewing, vetting, and referring dozens of cases involving violent crime, racially motivated discrimination, and other egregious acts of anti-Asian sentiment to the Alliance.

NAPABA congratulates the Alliance as the 2021 President’s Award winner.
