As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering civic engagement and supporting diverse communities in Indiana, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), together with the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Indiana (APABA-IN), is proud to host virtually our third community convening event centered around non-profit advocacy, coalition building, and community empowerment on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 4:00pm-5:30pm ET.

At our previous sessions, we heard from community members seeking to protect the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, strengthen the AANHPI population against hate, and ensure language access in health care for immigrant communities.  The needs and missions of Indiana-based non-profits are diverse, and participants learned how advocacy can be an effective tool to advance those goals.   But the type of nonprofit organization may determine what kinds of activities are permissible under federal tax laws, or how much advocacy can be undertaken.  With campus protests garnering headlines and as the nation enters an election year, special advocacy rules may apply in various scenarios.  Join NAPABA and our expert faculty members from Alliance for Justice as we discuss how to navigate these rules in order to maximize your mission in 2024.

This session will be held virtually, and we welcome legal professionals from the NAPABA community and beyond, all students (such as college students and law students), and community advocates from Indiana and throughout the Midwest!
