In recognition of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, this panel will reflect upon the recent rise in anti-Asian violence in the United States and how anti-Asian racism differs from other types. Leaders of our Asian, South Asian, Pacific-American Professionals (ASAPP) affinity group will be joined by Professor Frank Wu, president of Queens College, City University of New York, and Congresswoman Grace Meng, of New York's Sixth Congressional District, to discuss the “model minority myth” and its pernicious influence, as well as the role of political action in driving positive change. Members of Dentons’ ASAPP community will also share some of their difficult personal experiences, as well as examples of successful allyship.
