Candidate Statement

Dear NAPABA members,

I am honored to announce my candidacy for the upcoming NAPABA elections. With a deep commitment to our vibrant legal community, I firmly believe in creating opportunities for others in the face of a rapidly changing profession. After a decade of serving the organization via various roles on the Board of Governors and leading committees, I am excited to build upon the foundations laid by previous leaders and guide the organization into the future, refining our strategies for continued success.

During my 15 years as an attorney, I have witnessed the evolving landscape of our profession firsthand. The groundwork has been laid, and now it's time to advance and adapt. If elected, my focus will be on equipping our members with the necessary tools to thrive and taking our organization to new heights.

As President-Elect and President, I will work in close partnership with the dedicated NAPABA staff, recognizing their expertise and valuable contributions. Together, we will leverage the strengths of our team and build upon the existing structures to deliver even greater value to our members. Collaboration and open communication will be the pillars of our success.
I am committed to executing NAPABA’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with our evolving needs and aspirations. By analyzing our progress, identifying areas for improvement, and seizing new opportunities, we will chart a course that builds on the achievements of the past and propels us forward.

My key areas of focus as President-Elect and President will include:

1. Fostering Innovation and Adaptability: Our profession is in a constant state of change. Building upon the existing foundation, I will promote innovative programs, training initiatives, and mentorship opportunities that empower AANHPI attorneys to navigate emerging trends and technologies effectively. Together, we will embrace new ideas and approaches, keeping our members at the forefront of the legal landscape.

2. Cultivating Networking and Collaboration: Strong relationships and collaboration are crucial in our interconnected world. Building upon the existing network, I will continue to foster connections among our members and forge strategic partnerships with other bar associations, industry leaders, and institutions. By expanding our reach and influence, we will create a supportive environment where collaboration thrives, opening doors to new opportunities for professional growth.

3. Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: Our community is rich with diverse talents and perspectives. Building upon our progress, I will advocate for increased representation of AANHPI attorneys in leadership positions across legal sectors and collaborate with organizations to promote diversity initiatives. By amplifying diverse voices, we will foster a legal profession that reflects the true fabric of our society, ensuring equal opportunities for all.

4. Nurturing the Next Generation: Our future lies in the hands of emerging AANHPI legal professionals. Building upon existing mentorship programs, I am committed to providing them with guidance, resources, and exposure. Together, we will cultivate a strong pipeline of talented AANHPI attorneys, shaping the profession for years to come.

I am deeply dedicated to NAPABA's mission, and my passion for creating opportunities, combined with my experience and leadership, make me a strong candidate for the role of President-Elect. Together, let us build upon the solid foundation that has been laid and propel our organization forward.

I kindly request your support and vote in the upcoming elections. Let us embark on this journey together, forging a path of opportunity, inclusion, and growth for the AANHPI legal community.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Thy B. Bui
