Staying Connected While Keeping Your Distance

Each day brings new challenges as we face the impact of the coronavirus. We want to support our communities and care for our families. But to do so, we need to care for ourselves.

How can we? Our Wellness Committee shared ideas during a webinar last Thursday. They reminded me to quiet my mind, remember that I am not alone as I face challenges and remember that it is possible to support others while supporting myself.

So what can we do to care for our friends, families and community? One simple way: stay in touch. Call, video chat and text. Support local charities by donating to food banks or donating blood. Also, consider ordering from local restaurants, supporting local artists and reaching out to your neighbors.

Your friends and colleagues across NAPABA are working together to support each other, too. We have created a resource center with statements, programs, and tools for you and your bar associations.

And, while I’m on the subject of sharing, please be sure to participate in NAPABA’s Home Office on Facebook or Twitter. Post your tips on how you are successfully working from home. You could win a gift card for delicious take-out food from your favorite local restaurant.

Stay safe.
