NAPABA Celebrates Confirmation of John Nalbandian to
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit
WASHINGTON — Today, the United States Senate voted to confirm John Nalbandian as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Nalbandian is the second Asian Pacific American to serve on the Sixth Circuit and the seventh active Asian Pacific American federal appellate judge.
“We congratulate John Nalbandian on his confirmation to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit,” said Pankit J. Doshi, president of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). “An experienced appellate attorney and leader in his local community, John will bring a strong dedication to public service to the bench. We are proud to see one of affiliate bar association leaders be given the opportunity to serve our country.”
Nalbandian is a partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, specializing in appellate practice and complex litigation. He previously worked in the appellate practice of a Washington, D.C., law firm. He has a record of public service, having been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as a board member of the State Justice Institute in 2010. In 2007, he was appointed as a Special Justice to the Kentucky Supreme Court by Governor Fletcher. He has also served on the Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Nalbandian is active in his community in Kentucky and Ohio where he serves on numerous boards, including the Greater Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program and the Asian Pacific Bar Association of Southwest Ohio.
NAPABA is proud to have supported John Nalbandian during his nomination process. We thank President Trump for nominating him and NAPABA thanks Senators McConnell and Paul of Kentucky for recommending him to the White House.
