NAPABA membership operates on a calendar year from January 1 – December 31, 2024.

NAPABA Affiliates

If you are a member of a NAPABA affiliate bar association (opens new window), we offer complimentary annual membership. Affiliate Member accounts are automatically renewed once dues are paid by your affiliate organization. If you are a new member of an affiliate, please reach out to your affiliate bar organization for the private link to create a new NAPABA profile.

Membership Add-ons 

Partners Network with Directory
APA partners and senior attorneys practicing in major law firms (with at least 10 attorneys) can join the Partners Network with Directory. Through the Partners Network, you will join a network of APA Partners from across the country and be included in a searchable directory. Eligible Member Levels to opt into the Partners Directory include Law Firm Attorney and Solo & Small Firm Attorney.

For no additional fee, members can join other national networks of attorneys through the membership portal.

In order to activate your NAPABA membership, please choose from one of the member levels from the categories below. 

 

Law Firm Attorney
Annual Dues $165

Attorneys who practice in law firms with 25 or more attorneys. Law firm partners who sign up in this category may join the NAPABA Partners Network (subject to meeting eligibility requirements).

In-House Counsel
Annual Dues $150

Includes attorneys working in corporate settings who maintain an active license to practice or need CLEs.

 

Solo & Small Firm Attorney
Annual Dues $125

For individuals who are solo practitioners or are in firms with fewer than 25 attorneys. Law firm partners who sign up in this category may join the NAPABA Partners Network (subject to meeting eligibility requirements).

 

Academia
Annual Dues $75

Members of academia including all faculty, deans, and administrators who are attorneys.

 

Government
Annual Dues $75

Government and public sector attorneys, including those who work in court systems or as judicial law clerks.

 

Public Interest
Annual Dues $75

Public interest attorneys, including all attorneys who work in non-profits, legal aid programs, and other public interest organizations.

 

Judge
Annual Dues $75

Individuals who are judges, including those in the federal courts, state courts, and other agencies. Members at this level may join the NAPABA Judicial Council.

 

Retired
Annual Dues $50

Individuals who are retired from the practice of law and do not need CLE credits. Retired Judges may select this level and join the NAPABA Judicial Council.

 

Transitional
Annual Dues $50

Individuals who are currently unemployed or seeking employment and are not students or retired.

 

Law Student
Annual Dues $25

Students enrolled in ABA-accredited law schools in the U.S. or Canada. Membership note: Law students may not vote in NAPABA elections or hold elected or appointed positions within the organization.

 

Non-Attorney
Annual Dues $50

Those individuals who are not currently or have not been licensed attorneys in the U.S. or Canada. Membership note: Non-attorneys may not vote in NAPABA elections or hold elected or appointed positions within the organization.

 

Neutral
Annual Dues $165

Individuals who serve to assist parties in resolving their disputes, such as arbitrators, mediators, and court-appointed neutrals.

NAPABA is a not-for-profit organization under Internal Revenue Code § 501(c)(6). Membership dues paid to NAPABA are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Membership dues may, however, be deductible as business expenses, subject to restrictions imposed as a result of lobbying activities. NAPABA estimates that 45% of all dues paid to NAPABA are used for lobbying expenditures and, accordingly, 45% of your dues are non-deductible for federal income tax purposes. If you have questions, we recommend that you consult with a tax advisor.
