NAPABA Partners Directory FAQ

NAPABA Partners Directory FAQ

WHAT IS THE NAPABA PARTNERS DIRECTORY?

The NAPABA Partners Directory is a publication of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association ( www.napaba.org ), which profiles APA partners and senior attorneys in US law firms throughout the country and abroad. Since its inception in 1997, APA lawyers - in legal departments as well as law firms - have used the Directory to assist each other through networking and referring millions of dollars of business to APA attorneys profiled in the Directory.

PARTICIPATION IN THE DIRECTORY IS THE EXCLUSIVE MEANS FOR THE COMMITTEE'S COMMUNICATIONS TO MEMBERS OF THE NAPABA PARTNERS COMMITTEE.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR LISTING IN THE DIRECTORY? [Read Carefully]

A "NAPABA Partner" is any Asian-American member of NAPABA who is (i) a partner or senior attorney with at least 5 years of experience; and (ii) in private practice in a law firm, in the U.S. or abroad, with at least 10 attorneys. Exceptions to this rule are subject to the discretion of the Chair of the NAPABA Partners Directory in consultation with an advisory board of NAPABA In-House Counsel (whose identities will not be disclosed to minimize lobbying).

To get into the Directory, you must (i) renew your NAPABA membership and (ii) pay a separate and additional fee for the Directory listing. You may do both online at www.napaba.org. If you are a current member of a local affiliate bar association recognized by NAPABA, you are automatically a member of NAPABA, but you still need to pay for your Partner Directory membership.

WHO GETS IN THE DIRECTORY?

In cooperation with NAPABA's In-House Counsel Committee, the online and printed versions of the Directory will be sent to over 1500 APA in-house lawyers in the US. In addition, each printed version of the Directory will be distributed to the attendees of NAPABA's Annual Convention. Also, each lawyer signing up for the Directory will be allocated 3 copies when and if we print a new edition.

WILL THE DIRECTORY ALSO BE AVAILABLE ONLINE?

Yes. The Directory will be online as well as in printed formats. The online version will be hosted on NAPABA's website and will be searchable by name, practice, and city. Due to space limitations (1-page per profile), the printed version will include less information than what you'll be permitted to in your online version. However, the printed version will direct the reader's attention to the online version for your full profile.

HOW CAN I SIGN UP?

Signups will be done exclusively online at http://www.napaba.org/napaba/partners.asp. You'll be responsible for inputting your information in pre-designated fields. You'll also have the opportunity to upload a photo. Until we decide to print our next edition of the Directory, it may be more efficient if you simply pasted the URL to your firm's online bio.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Membership in the NAPABA Partners Committee is $250 per year due (which includes your listing in the Directory). We maintain a calendar year and dues are payable in advance by December 31 of the prior year. For example, 2013 Annual Dues are due and payable December 31, 2012. AFTER JANUARY 1 OF EACH YEAR, PARTNERS WITH UNPAID DUES WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE COMMITTEE, WHICH ALSO MEANS THAT YOUR ONLINE DIRECTORY LISTING WILL BE DELETED. New and renewing partners must pay for the year they join (or rejoin) and due for the next year will be due and payable by December 31 of the initial or renewal year (for example, if you join July 4, 2013, you still need to pay 2014's dues by December 31, 2013; so that's 2-year's dues in the same year). Dues are payable paid online by credit card as you complete your profile. Your online listing must be renewed annually by July 31 of each year. If you prefer not to pay online, you may send your check to NAPABA, 1612 K Street NW, Suite 1400, Washington, DC 20006.

CAN I EDIT OR UPDATE MY PROFILE?

Yes, you'll have the ability to edit your online profile at any time up to any announced "Print Deadline" for any future printed version.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL AD DEALS IF MY FIRM SIGNS UP MORE THAN ONE APA PARTNER OR SENIOR ATTORNEY?

No.
