Are you interested in getting in front of lawyers at KB Home, Dell, Xerox, Sony, as well as more than 1500 Asian-Pacific American in-house lawyers? How about getting referrals from firms like Dorsey & Whitney, PillsburyWinthrop, Jones Day and White & Case?
If you're nodding yes, then it's time to update our NAPABA Partners Directory. Frequently asked questions (FAQs) below:
WHAT IS THE NAPABA PARTNERS DIRECTORY?
The NAPABA Partners Directory is a publication of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association ( www.napaba.org ), which profiles APA partners and senior attorneys in US law firms throughout the country and abroad. Since its inception in 1997, APA lawyers - in legal departments as well as law firms - have used the Directory to assist each other through networking and referring millions of dollars of business to APA attorneys profiled in the Directory. The next print version of the Directory will be in 2010, but you should create and update your online profile now.
"The NAPABA Partners Directory is a unique and valuable tool for identifying APA attorneys by location and fields of expertise. Whether we are in-house attorneys seeking to engage outside counsel or law firm attorneys with referral opportunities, the Directory is a key resource to keep at our fingertips. It serves the secondary purpose of allowing NAPABA members to keep in touch with each other and is a tangible affirmation of just how far APA attorneys have come in achieving partnership status."
Wendy Shiba, Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary, KB Home
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR LISTING IN THE DIRECTORY? [Read Carefully]
A "NAPABA Partner" is any Asian-American member of NAPABA who is (i) a partner or senior attorney with at least 5 years of experience; and (ii) in private practice in a law firm, in the U.S. or abroad, with at least 10 attorneys. Exceptions to this rule are subject to the discretion of Bruce Ishimatsu, Chair, NAPABA Partners Directory.
To get into the Directory, you must (i) renew your NAPABA membership and (ii) pay a separate and additional fee for the Directory listing. You may do both online at www.napaba.org. If you are a current member of a local affiliate bar association recognized by NAPABA, you are automatically a member of NAPABA, but you still need to pay for your Partner Directory membership.
WHO GETS IN THE DIRECTORY?
In cooperation with NAPABA's Corporate Counsel Committee (Gordon Yamate, Chair), the printed version of the Directory will be sent to over 1500 APA in-house lawyers in the US. In addition, the Directory will be distributed to the attendees of NAPABA's Annual Convention. Also, each lawyer signing up for the Directory will be allocated 3 copies.
WILL THE DIRECTORY ALSO BE AVAILABLE ONLINE?
Yes. The Directory will be online as well as in printed formats. The online version will be hosted on NAPABA's website and will be searchable by name, practice, and city. Due to space limitations (1-page per profile), the printed version will include less information than what you'll be permitted to in your online version. However, the printed version will direct the reader's attention to the online version for your full profile.
