2014 Mentorship Program

The NAPABA Women’s Leadership Committee is launching its 2014 Mentorship Program to assist young attorneys with experienced attorneys to better define their legal career path through the sharing of an experienced attorney’s wisdom, experiences and knowledge about the practice of law.

NAPABA Celebrates Confirmation
of Vince Chhabria

Today, the Senate confirmed Vince Chhabria by a 58-41 vote to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. He is the first person of South Asian descent to serve as an Article III judge in California’s history, and only the third South Asian American federal district court judge nationwide.

2014 McGuireWoods/NLF Internship Program
Deadline Extended to 3/21/14

The NAPABA Law Foundation (NLF) is accepting applications for the McGuireWoods/NLF Internship Program. The Program will support students interested in the legal profession and will help students develop a commitment to advocacy on behalf of the APA community. The Program seeks to achieve these goals by providing undergraduate and law school students with meaningful internship experiences at the Washington DC offices of NAPABA and NLF.

NAPABA Supports Governor Brewer's Veto
of Hateful Anti-LGBT Bill

Last night, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer vetoed SB 1062, legislation that would have enabled businesses to disregard municipal ordinances under the banner of religious freedom, and allowed them to discriminate against individuals who identify as LGBT.

2014 Collaborative Bar Leadership Academy
Deadline Extended to 3/10/14

The CBLA is a joint effort among the American Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, National Bar Association, National Native American Bar Association, and NAPABA. The CBLA aims to strengthen the pipeline of diverse bar association leaders through leadership and professional development trainings that are intended for up-and-coming bar leaders who have been in practice for 5-15 years and have served as officers of a NAPABA affiliate and/or chair/co-chair of a NAPABA committee.

NAPABA Condemns Arizona Anti-LGBT Legislation

NAPABA strongly urges Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to veto legislation passed by the Arizona state legislature last Thursday that, under the guise of religious freedom, would enable discrimination against individuals who identify as LGBT.
