May 24, 2017 | Washington, D.C.
NAPABA is proud to partner with Ascend, a national non-profit organization for Asian Pacific American business professionals, to offer lawyers—whether in-house, law firm, government, public interest, or academia—a day-long leadership training program on May 24, 2017 in Washington, D.C.
This pilot program seeks to empower mid-to-senior level NAPABA members with the leadership tools necessary to reach and succeed at the highest levels of the profession.
The training curriculum was developed by highly experienced Asian Pacific American corporate executives to provide high-potential managers and senior professionals with key insights about the attributes, behavioral patterns, and core competencies needed to reach executive level positions. This innovative program has been adapted for lawyers and will be presented by two experienced Ascend trainers.
The pilot program will incorporate presentations by trainers, peer-to-peer interactions, and experiential learning opportunities on topics including the myths of Asian American leadership and management culture, crafting your personal brand, and the importance of managing up. The day will be divided into three training modules, each with several discrete lessons that include a situation/challenge/question posed to the participants, an open discussion, and trainer lecture. The modules have been designed to invoke self-reflection and understanding in the context of being Asian Pacific American. The workshop will end with a relationship-building cocktail reception.
